I’m so proud of the Notre Dame class of 2009, the leadership of the University and the President of the United States for the way they handled the attempt by so many to politicize the graduation ceremony. It was a beautiful thing to watch.

I think your examples are coming on a bit too strong.

Why not say something like: "Congrats on your graduation! I know we've lost touch over the years but I always look back on our childhood friendship with fondness." Except, maybe not so cheesy.

But whatever you do, don't confess your love! That is awkward.

I made my own announcements. On the cover I put my school's logo and "The Graduating Class of 2008." On the first inside page I put my full name, followed by a message saying I was graduating from my school and where the ceremony was going to be held. On the other page, I put what college I'm going to and what I'm majoring in. I chose one of my favorite quotes to put on the back. I printed it out on card stock so it would look like those kind of announcements you can buy, and made special labels for the return address and such. I also included a wallet size picture of myself that I got after I took my senior pictures, since a lot of my relatives live on the other side of the country and haven't seen me in a while. Just have fun with it and include whatever you want! :D
