But what does it mean to be a good feminist? And what does it mean to be a feminist at all? Concrete Utopia invites us to explore the meaning of feminism …

The 'hillbilly' wedding invitation may be an ill-advised attempt at a humorous invitation, & that's all. Why not speak to the couple about it, & explain to them how it came across to you. If they are emotionally-developmentally impaired (which is often both undiagnosed & unrecognized by the majority of people—even professionals), they won't be capable of recognizing how their actions can affect others adversely, & will not understand your reaction:

"Understanding FAS and ARND"

(Such a disability can have several other causes, as well.)

IF at the gathering mentioned, there is concern that one or more of the 'non-J.W.s' might somehow be stumbled by asking them to join in a group prayer, what is so wrong with allowing each person to offer their own prayers . . . like they usually do anyway . . . ? (Maybe one or more of them stipulated that they wouldn't come if there was going to be prayers said, & the host wanted them to meet some J.W.s in person to see that we really are just ordinary folk . . .

Why didn't you ask *him* . . . ???

Perhaps you have forgotten what it says at Matthew 18:15:

“Moreover, if your brother commits a sin, go lay bare his fault between you and him alone."

Even if he hasn't committed a sin –grave or not– if we feel slighted or offended by something said or done by another person, does it not behoove us to speak with *them* about it, rather than publishing it 'abroad' . . . ?

Perhaps you should ask yourself:

"Why am I being so sensitive?
Could there be a logical explanation for this?
Might I be over-reacting, as well as being judgmental?"

And, meditate on the principles discussed in the articles:

"Guard Against Being Quick to Question Motives"
(1967 'w', pgs 387-388);

"Guard Against Unkind Thoughts"
(1973 'w', pgs 478-479);

"Beware of Imputing Wrong Motives to Others"
(1980 'w' 4/1 pgs 12-15).

Online is really not the appropriate place to be discussing personal matters.

…you’re never going to beat them so you might as well join one. Choose wisely.
